SMALL GROUPS

WHY SMALL GROUPS?

Small groups exist to empower the people of Sumiton Church of God to build community and foster spiritual growth. Whether you are reading through a Bible study together, serving in outreach, or sharing a common interest, we encourage everyone to join a small group or start their own, and begin growing in their relationship with God and His Church.

Life is not meant to be lived alone. You were created to experience life with other people and that’s why at Sumiton Church of God, we encourage you to get into a small group.

A small group is a group of three or more people who gather each week in a home, workplace, online, anywhere. In a group you’ll hang out, study the Word, and pray together. Each group focuses on building relationships that help you grow. It is our desire for you to live life together with people who will encourage, uplift and inspire you. Small group sign ups to be leader of a small group or a part of a small group are in the Spring and Fall semesters. When small group sign ups are open, this will be where you sign up at!

COMMON QUESTIONS

What should I expect?

The goal of joining a small group is to grow in your walk with Jesus around people that can support you in taking your next steps. We believe life is better when you live in community. There are group options available for those who are married, couples, students, men, and women. We want to help you find the best fit.

Is childcare provided?

Not all groups offer childcare, but there are options available. Make sure to let us know if you would like to join a group with childcare. Some groups will split the cost for a sitter or make other arrangements.

Where do groups meet?

Groups meet in homes, restaurants, church, parks, etc. We will help you find a group near you by providing a map of available groups on the online directory.

How often do groups meet?

Groups meet different days and times throughout the week. Some choose to meet every week, bi-weekly, or once a month.

How do I lead a small group of my own?

Let us know that you want to lead. We will help you get started. To lead a small group, we require you to complete the Growth Track and attend a small group leader training session.
